Team Toyo’s Ben Wandahsega Scores Double Victories
During First Ever Lucas Oil World Series of Off-Road Racing Weekend
OWATONNA, MINNESOTA
Ben Wandahsega of Bark River, Michigan, driver of the Forest County Potawatomi / Toyo Tires Chevy Silverado truck scored double victories in the Stock Super Truck class during the first-ever weekend of the Lucas Oil World Series of Off-Road Racing (WSORR) at Owatonna, Minnesota. Driving on LT285/75R16 Open Country M/T™ tires from Toyo, Wandahsega dominated the field of competitors over the course of two days while facing extremely different track conditions.
During Saturday’s Round 1, Wandahsega defeated Dan Baudoux and Don Williams on a dry track. Wandahsega’s Open Country M/T tires were then put to the acid test as overnight rains produced a muddy track surface for Sunday’s Round 2 which ran early in the morning. Once again, he stood on the top of the podium to claim another first place finish. Prior to this season, Wandahsega captured the 2005 CORR Lucas Oil Racing Series championship for Toyo.
Also scoring double podium finishes during the inaugural WSORR race weekend was Kevin Probst of New Lenox, Illinois, driving his Pro 2WD class Simply WOW / Toyo Tires 800-horsepower Chevy Silverado pickup. Running on 35x12.50R17 Open Country M/T tires, Probst scored a third place finish behind Scott Taylor and Mike Oberg during Round 1. The following day, Probst moved up in the 2007 championship season standings by placing second over the chasing Oberg.
“We are excited to see both Ben Wandahsega and Kevin Probst stand on the podium during both days of the historic first-ever weekend of the Lucas Oil World Series of Off-Road Racing,” quoted Stan Chen, manager of events and motorsports, Toyo Tire (U.S.A.) Corporation. “Ben’s back-to-back victories demonstrate his championship potential for this 2007 season and we congratulate both drivers on their success.”
