ORANGE, Calif. (May 6, 2008)

Del Worsham is a racer. It's what he does, it's what he loves, and it defines him. So, faced with a string of 12 NHRA POWERade Drag Racing Series events in 18 weeks, what did Worsham choose to do on the first of only six off-weekends between now and Labor Day? PERFECT TIMING FOR BRADSHAW'S FIRST ROUND WIN

ST. LOUIS (May 5, 2008)

Prior to running this weekend's O'Reilly NHRA Midwest Nationals, Top Fuel driver Alan Bradshaw had not won a round of racing since driving for Bill Miller Engineering at the 2006 Schuck's Auto Supply Nationals in Seattle, Wash. Bradshaw ended that drought however when he took a holeshot victory over J.R. Todd in Sunday's opening round of eliminations.

POSITIVE WEEKEND FOR WORSHAM, WITH 2nd-ROUND FINISH

Worsham & Fink Racing

POST-EVENT REPORT

O'Reilly Midwest Nationals
Gateway International Raceway
Madison, Ill.

QUALIFYING
Del Worsham - No. 8 (4.797 seconds)

ELIMINATIONS

Del Worsham defeated Bob Tasca in round one
Lost to Tim Wilkerson in round two

As Del Worsham sees it, quite clearly, it's all about round wins, and the most important round win at any race is the first one. After a dramatic qualifying effort here in St. Louis, Worsham accomplished his main mission, advancing into the second round, but was denied further riches when eliminated by the Tim Wilkerson juggernaut. In addition, the opening-round "W" kept Worsham ahead of his opponent, Bob Tasca, on the points sheet, in what was literally a battle for 10th place.

Coughlin loses closest drag race of the POWERade season

ST. LOUIS (May 4)

A few years ago, NHRA officials expanded the timing system to a fourth decimal point so that races decided by less than one thousandth of a second would have a definitive winner. On Sunday afternoon at Gateway International Raceway, reigning series champion Jeg Coughlin Jr. and veteran Kurt Johnson almost needed another digit to decide who won their head-to-head race as their quarter-mile contest came down to one-10 thousandths of a second (.0001 seconds).

WORSHAM BUMPS IN, ALL THE WAY TO THE 8th SPOT

On a weekend when Del Worsham and his Checker, Schuck's, Kragen team are hosting a pair of Broadway actors at the race track, it was Worsham himself who delivered the drama on Saturday. Entering the day from the No. 9 spot, Worsham smoked the tires on Saturday's first lap, which took place under cloud cover and in extremely cool temperatures. That transgression left him clinging to the 14th position going into the final session and by the time he pulled to the line to compete, he had already been bumped out of the field.
