FORMULA BMW USA BECOMES FORMULA BMW AMERICAS

In preparation for its fifth season Formula BMW USA is changing and growing to better meet the needs of young racing drivers in North, Central and South America. To recognize the scope of the championship, Formula BMW USA will add two rounds in support of the Brazilian Formula 1 Grand Prix and be renamed Formula BMW Americas. To further strengthen the young driver development program, BMW Motorsport will also increase the Junior scholarship award to $80,000.
Formula BMW Americas reflects the growth of Formula BMW worldwide. Formula BMW Germany and Formula BMW UK announced on June 28th that the two series will reorganize to form Formula BMW Europe. Formula BMW Europe, Formula BMW Americas and Formula BMW Asia will now comprise the new face of Formula BMW.

Daniel Morad - Winner and Champion
FORMULA BMW USA - MOSPORT - RACE 13 AND 14
Bowmanville, Ontario, Canada - Aug. 26, 2007...
Daniel Morad (Eurointernational) ended the 2007 Formula BMW USA season as he began it - a winner. After clinching the Overall title yesterday with a fourth-place finish in Round 13, the 17-year old Canadian added a record sixth win today.

FORMULA BMW USA - ROUNDS 13 & 14, MOSPORT, PREVIEW

Taking a 67-point lead in the Overall standings into the final two Rounds of the 2007 Formula BMW USA Championship at Mosport International Raceway this weekend, 17-year old Daniel Morad (Eurointernational) looks to win this year's Formula BMW USA title in front of his hometown fans. Canadian Morad, a native of Toronto, was last season's Rookie champion and has had a stellar season this year, standing on the podium nine times - five of them on the top step.

Rookie Sensation Gutierrez leads start to finish at Road America
FORMULA BMW USA - ROAD AMERICA - ROUNDS 11 & 12
Elkhart Lake, Wis. - Aug. 12, 2007…
16 year-old Esteban Gutierrez (Autotecnica), of Monterrey, Mexico, took the Round 12 Formula BMW USA victory from his record eighth pole of the season today at Road America. He led from standing start to checkered flag, finishing .402 seconds ahead of Adrien Tambay (Eurointernational) in the 10-lap race. The win was his fourth of the year and extends his lead in the Rookie point standings and consolidates his second place in the Overall point standings.

FORMULA BMW USA - PREVIEW, ROUNDS 9 & 10, SAN JOSE GRAND PRIX

The San Jose Grand Prix will host Rounds 9 and 10 of the 2007 Formula BMW USA Championship on July 27 - 29 as Formula BMW USA joins the Champ Car World Series for two consecutive race weekends. Challenging may well prove to be an understatement for the 17 young drivers entered as the 1.5-mile, 7-turn Redback Raceway that slashes through the San Jose streets will provide quite a contrast to the rolling 4.0-mile, 15-turn Road America circuit that will see Rounds 11 and 12 on August 9 - 12.
The Formula BMW USA Championship passed the mid-point of the season at Lime Rock Park on July 6 - 7 with Round 8 marking the 50th Formula BMW USA race since the series began in 2004.

Formula BMW World Final returns to Valencia in 2007 - Vietoris set for F1 test.
Munich, 18 July.
The venue and date for the Formula BMW World Final 2007 have been confirmed. The high point of the season for the four international Formula BMW series will take place at the Circuit de la Comunitat Valenciana Ricardo Tormo in Valencia, Spain from 22nd - 25th November. The event will see the world wide leading Formula BMW drivers battling it out for overall victory - and a prize which would be a dream of every up-and-coming young racing driver: a Formula One test with the BMW Sauber F1 Team.

FORMULA BMW EUROPE TO LAUNCH IN 2008
Formula BMW Germany and Formula BMW UK Championship will team up.
Munich/Bracknell, 28 June, 2007.
BMW is taking its junior talent promotion scheme to a new level. As from season 2008, the Formula BMW Germany and Formula BMW UK championships will merge to create Formula BMW Europe. The new championship will mainly be staged on the undercard of the FIA Formula One World Championship.

The 207 Spider Cup is Peugeot Sport's latest European single-make series and features an international field of drivers representing five different countries. The majority of the rounds serve as curtain-raiser to the Le Mans Series races in which the 908 HDi FAPs is competing this year. However, the 207 Spider Cup's calendar also includes two prestige fixtures in France and the series will share the bill of this weekend's WTCC meeting at Pau. The points table is currently topped by Frenchman Grégory Guilvert, although the Frenchman knows he can expect stiff opposition in the first of his two home rounds.

It was a carbon-copy performance for the top-three drivers in the two qualifying sessions for opening Rounds of the 2007 Formula BMW USA Championship, at Miller Motorsports Park, in Tooele, Utah, as two Rookies sandwiched last season’s Rookie champion at the front of the 20-car field. Although the margin from first to second lessened to only .023 seconds in the Round 2 session this morning, it was still Rookie Esteban Gutierrez (Autotecnica) scoring the double-pole over second-place qualifier and 2006 FBUSA Rookie champion Daniel Morad (Eurointernational). Gutierrez, 15, of Monterrey, Mexico, backed up his 1:29.585 minute time in yesterday’s Round 1 session with a 1:29.773 minute lap around the 2.242-mile East circuit. 18-year old BMW Junior driver Canadian Jeffrey Petriello (Team KMA) rounded out the top-three.

Victories for Sébastien Buemi and Romain Grosjean

Race 1:
Saturday’s heat was a clean sweep for Buemi. Starting from pole position he accelerated into an immediate lead, posted the fastest lap of the race on lap 19 (1:34.666) and drove to victory after 25 laps with a margin of 3.935 seconds. The battle for second place ended at the first corner of lap 23, when Frenchman Mailleux spun and dropped behind charging Hülkenberg. Dutchman Renger van der Zande ended up fourth ahead of Romain Grosjean from France who improved from second on the grid to fifth at the chequered flag.

FORMULA BMW USA DRIVERS COMPLETE SECOND OFFICIAL TEST OF 2007 SEASON
Woodcliff Lake, NJ - April 17, 2007
18 young drivers recently participated in the second of three official tests before the 2007 Formula BMW USA season begins on May 17 at Miller Motorsports Park in Tooele Valley, Utah.
Held on April 7th and 8th at Virginia International Raceway (VIR), in Alton, Virginia, the youngsters completed a combined 6000 miles under cool, crisp and fast conditions. With no major incidents reducing the track time the ten teams on hand could run their programs with little interruption.

Rafa Matos Comes to Houston Looking for Third-Straight Atlantic Win
Young, Brazilian Opens Atlantic Season with Near Perfect Results

Raphael "Rafa" Matos knew entering the 2007 Cooper Tires Presents the Champ Car Atlantic Championship powered by Mazda Series he had a strong combination to win races. The native of Belo Horizonte, Brazil, who now lives in Miami, knew he was returning to the No. 6 ProWorks/Sierra Sierra Enterprises Mazda that he raced to three pole positions, four podiums and one victory in 2006. He knew that Sierra Sierra had added renowned race engineer Lee Dykstra to work with he and driving coach David Empringham. The team also brought on Rafa's friend and one of his strongest competitors, James Hinchcliffe as a teammate and Dave Bushmeyer as Hinchcliffe's engineer.
